My Pre-Trade Checklist (That Fits on One Screen)

My Pre-Trade Checklist (That Fits on One Screen)

Choosing when not to trade

A checklist does not need to be long to be effective. For a part-time trader, simplicity is critical.

Single-Screen Design

I keep my pre-trade checklist entirely visible on one screen. Scrolling or toggling between tabs creates friction and distraction.

Steps Before Trading

  • Verify higher timeframe structure
  • Confirm support/resistance levels
  • Check news/events that might affect the market
  • Ensure my energy and focus are sufficient
  • Confirm risk parameters match plan

Every step can be completed in under five minutes. The goal is clarity and consistency, not busywork.

Why It Fits My Workflow

This checklist builds on the previous workflow posts in this Tech series. It prevents accidental trades and reinforces discipline.

Focus Over Activity

With a simple checklist, I avoid impulsive decisions. It ensures that every trade I take aligns with my environment, screen setup, and personal limitations.
